Dr. Jan Pieter Hommen attended college and medical school at Cornell University. He was a member of the medical school Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Upon his graduation from medical school, he continued his training with this residency in orthopedics at New Your University /Hospital for Joint Diseases in Manhattan. Dr. Hommen also completed a trauma residency rotation at the University of Washington's Harborview Hospital in Seattle. He then became fellowship trained in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute in Los Angeles. Dr. Hommen has been praciting orthopedics in Miami since 2005 and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery.

Dr. Hommen's office is located at the Medical Arts Building at Baptist Hospital in Kendall. He specializes in surgical and conservative treatment of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle. The Hommen Orthopedic Institute is currently the sponsoring orthopedic group for the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers Professional Soccer Team, Florida Memorial University, Doral Academy Charter High School, St. Brendan High School, Florida Christian High School and Rivera Preparatory.

Dr. Hommen is an Associate Clinical Professor at the Florida International University. He is currently engaged in orthopedic research as well as mentoring medical students. In addition, Dr. Hommen is an instructor in hip arthroscopy at the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA).
